At 6:40AM yesterday morning, a bow hunter was attacked multiple times by a mountain lion east of Kamas, UT., near Mirror Lake Highway, as reported by Deseret News.
He had recently nocked an arrow to he begin his elk hunt when he first encountered the lion. It was ready to pounce, leaving the hunter only a matter of seconds to release the arrow, however it missed its newly changed target.
"The feline lunged at his chest — knocking him to the ground... leaving only a few claw marks on his chest and a puncture in his leg... the cat then charged him three or four times..."
The hunter survived and is very grateful it didn't end up as the fatal encounter it had the potential of becoming. He's now considering purchasing and carrying a handgun for self-defense to help ensure his return home to his kids.
